Frequently Asked Questions

Flues, install costs, timing, warranty and servicing, gathered in one place. Anything else, the team is happy to talk it through.

Choosing a fireplace

What is the difference between gas, electric and wood?

Gas log fires give you real flame and strong, controllable heat, and they are the most popular choice in our showroom. Electric fires run flueless and install almost anywhere, which suits apartments and internal walls. Wood heaters give classic radiant warmth and suit homes with the space and the appetite for a real fire.

Does my fireplace need a flue?

Gas log fires are flued, and a standard single storey flue kit is included in the sale price shown on each product page. Electric fires are flueless. We confirm the flue run for your home before anything is ordered, and a double storey run or an unusual roof line is quoted separately.

What gas do Illusion fires run on?

Illusion gas log fires run on natural gas or LPG, and they suit apartments, townhouses and standalone homes. Let us know which supply you have when you enquire and we will set the fire up correctly before it leaves us.

How do I know which size suits my room?

The Luminar range runs from the compact 1000 through to the panoramic 6000, and the Matrix range heats roughly 80 to 120 square metres. Send us your room dimensions and ceiling height, or bring a floor plan into the showroom, and we will match a model to the space.

Are the fireplaces Australian made?

Illusion Fires is Australia’s largest manufacturer of gas log fireplaces and has been designing and building locally for more than two decades. We are the exclusive Illusion retailer for NSW and QLD, and we also stock Ultimate Fires wood heaters.

Installation and media walls

Do you install the fireplaces you sell?

Yes. Turnkey installation is our specialty. One team manages the custom design, the wall construction, the gas fitting and the electrical work, taking you from choosing a fire through to a finished custom media wall.

How long does the whole process take?

Most installs are booked within a few weeks of the quote being approved, and a straightforward fireplace install is finished in a day. A full custom media wall takes longer because of the build and the finishing trades, so we confirm dates with you in writing before work starts.

Can I use my own builder?

You can. Plenty of customers buy supply only and hand the fire to their own builder or gas fitter. We provide the installation manual and the framing dimensions, and our team is happy to talk your trades through the details.

Do you install in apartments and strata buildings?

Yes, and this is where electric models often work best because they need no flue. For gas in an apartment we look at the flue path and the building rules first, so send through what you know and we will tell you what is possible.

Pricing, delivery and ordering

What does installation cost?

Installation is quoted for your space, because the figure depends on the wall build, the length of the flue run and the gas or electrical work involved. Supply only pricing is on every product page, and you receive a full written quote before anything is booked.

What is included in the sale price?

Sale prices on gas log fires include a standard single storey flue kit, the log set, a standard fascia and interstate transfer. Anything beyond that, such as a longer flue run or a custom fascia, is quoted for your job.

Can I order online?

Yes. Add a fire to your cart and check out online, with delivery across NSW and QLD. If you would rather talk it through first, book a consultation and we will help you choose the model and plan the install.

Why do the outdoor kitchen packages have an enquiry button?

Outdoor kitchen packages are configured with you before they are ordered, covering lid style, sink and fridge or sink and storage, and cabinetry colour. Send an enquiry and we will confirm the layout and price for your space.

Warranty and servicing

What warranty do I get?

Every Illusion firebox carries a 10 year warranty. Heaters and their components are covered for 1 year, and installations completed by our subcontracted plumbers are also covered for 1 year.

How often should my gas log fire be serviced?

We recommend a full inspection and service every 3 to 4 years for the best performance and peace of mind. Book a service through the contact form and we will arrange a time that suits.

My fire is not behaving as it should. What now?

Call the showroom on 0460 509 393 with your model name and roughly when it was installed. Many issues are settled over the phone, and where a visit is needed we book a technician.

Still weighing something up? Call the showroom or send a note and we will come back to you within one business day.
